CONFINEMENT CENTRES & HOMES IN PENANG

To all parents or expectant parents,
Nowadays, doing survey for confinement centres is one of the crucial things in your planning to have babies.
Many mothers are going to confinement centres instead of hiring confinement ladies.
I'm sharing some information on confinement centre contacts, massage service and full moon gift set service here.
As I know I can't get the compilation of these contacts from the Internet.
Hopefully, this information does help in your searching.
You are always welcomed to add any comments (good or bad about any of the centres/services).
I'm aware that many mothers have visited my blog for title of "My Life at De Garden" when doing their searching for confinement centres in the net.
Therefore your opinions/comments might be useful for those viewers.
If you have any new contacts, you may share them here as well.

Hi Angie, thanks for sharing. This is especially useful for expectant moms to be. Its a one stop info centre. In your search did you also come across baby sitters or baby care centres in Penang?

Angie said...

Hi there, thanks for visiting my blog. I do not really do the search for baby sitters or baby care centres in Penang as there are too many. Maybe I'll post the information when I look for nursery or kindergarten in future.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am here to inform you that is this confinement center named O'hana Resorts Sdn Bhd located at 213, Jalan Macallister,10450 Penang, have not been managing the center well.
After my dellivery, I thought I have make the right choice for spending my confinement at the most expensive confinement center in Penang.
But, after my staying in the confinement center, my baby was infected with conjunctivitis. I had advised the person in charge (Cheryl) to isolate the infected baby. But she took it for granted and given me the reason that the baby already recover, no need to be isolate in another room. And I got to know that this infection have been started since 3 months ago and they never take futher action to do any treatment like "pembasmi kuman" to clean the room. Because of no further action have been taken, the virus and germs have been staying in the nursery till it spread to some babies. Not only my baby was infected, there are also a few conjunctivitis case. You may check with a few mothers in the list staying in the center in the month of Nov2011, Dec2011 and Jan 2012 and the person in charge of O'hana. Moreoever, some nurses whom so call the care taker for baby are not registered nurses . Some are just trainee without experience. Please don not let your patients taking the risk.

Yours sincerely

Hi Regretful Mum,

We are here to tell you that you are not the only regretful mum. We have choose this confinement home as the claim they are the best breast feeding center.

We share the same faith as you. No action taken till today (Mid Feb). Cheryl still taking for granted for not isolating the infected babies and mothers. During our stay there are 3 mothers and 4 babies are infected with conjunctivitis.

Many mothers together with their babies left the center early without refund. This is worst and irresponsible confinement center.

All nurses are part time and some work over 24hours to cover the shortage of staff.

Think twice before you make the choice of choosing O'hana Resort.

I am wondering why this confinement center still surviving...sigh....hopefully Ministry of Health can look into this matter and hang their license...

Hi, I'm helping my sister to look for a confinement centre. She was going to Ohana but due to the dramas as mentioned above, it's closing down, so my sister got her deposit refunded. Does anyone know any good confinement centre that support breastfeeding AND has the knowledge in this field? Although a number of private hospitals and confinement centres claim that they encourage breastfeeding, however, from what I heard, they don't seem to have sufficient knowledge in providing a supportive breastfeeding environment as well as resources.

Zoe Walker said...

Hi again, my sis just went to ai xin, it's actually illegal! And their facilities are very poor (b.y.o. Toilet paper, restricted hours in tv viewing etc), and services are very unprofessional! Before my sis went there, they claimed that they support breastfeeding (despite the fact that they expressed limited knowledge in this field by telling my sis that all babies must be fed formula as there won't be enough breast milk during this period), now that my sis as been in there or less than a week, they gave her an ultimatum, express milk for them to bottle feed her baby (my sis has been breastfeeding) or leave the baby in her room (I.e. thy won't help to care for her baby)!

I would also like to share our experiences in AiXin Confinement Center. This center was previously recommended for its good food and excellent baby care. However after enrollment mid of this year, we had very bad experience. Firstly is their confinement food. Some of the foods given are forbidden foods that must not be eaten by mothers due to "wind" element. We confronted the owner, Joyce and she told us that all can be eaten and must not be picky. Helllo! These are common food that must not be eaten like celery, tu kah chor (pig leg vinegar) and chicken meat - serve after just 3 days of delivery. Next is the center's insist of using their own Amway oil for baby's stomach. They will find ways to inform that your oil is not suitable and only their oil is better. Finally the owner always find ways to throw out their customers before 30 days in the pretend that you & your baby must leave after the full moon.
I admit that their babysitting experience are quite good with all Chinese aunties taking care and strategic location. But the bad point is their food are really bad, money minded attitude rather than caring, not prefer breast-feeling, find ways to shift you out before your stipulated 30 days

Hi, I would like to share my confinement experience in I Confinement Home at Lorong Slim, Penang.
The centre don't encourage breast feeding and will always find ways to stop us mummies from breastfeeding our babies. I of course insist on continue giving my bb what is best for him which is my breastmilk and bf babies poo poo alot and the nannies didn't change my bb diaper on time which causes him to get diaper rash twice. They ask me to stop my breastfeeding completely so that my bb won't poo poo that much and he won't have the diaper rash problem. This of course won't happen if they're more attentive to the babies. Moreover how can they ask to stop breastfeeding based on such lame excuse.
so mummies if you're planning to breastfeed your babies, don't come to this centre. You will regret it like I did.

Yes, i agreed with Anonymous said, I had bad experience in 'I confinement home' at Lorong Slim, Penang. They don't encourage to breastfeeding, even you gave the pump breast milk, I don't think nannies will give the baby, nannies prefer milk powder instead of breast milk due to their short of manpower. Besides, the foods is not like the website posted which they try to attract you. Same food repeated in a week for 3-4 times, can you image if you stay one month over there.. u will vomit of eating repeated food with bad taste.
Furthermore, the nannies is lack of experience of taking care baby, their nannies will change always, some are part-time, -.-""" how can they taking care baby in good way of keep changing.. they will close the curtain don't let mummies watch how they taking care babies. If you complain to person-in-charge, she will show her unhappy face which make u uncomfortable..
Last, the Baby room is not clean enough, majority babies infected by red-eye, of course my baby also infected by red-eye in last week. However, the nannies & PIC is not admit of it. How's terrible are them, they scare of take responsibility of spread the red-eye virus among mummies & babies, they try to ask mummy keep silent of the issue. I feel sad & bad of staying this terrible confinement home. Please don't go this stupid confinement home..

Hi Jess, you can go for Jia Yi.. they encourage Breastfeeding! ^.^

I just stay at confinement B Well at padang tembak penang they just take over from E bell but the thing inside are all some.they also did't support breastfeeding. At less u tell them u want breastfeeding and dun want use formula milk from the day u step in . but u must make sure u have a lot of milk to feed your baby if not the auntie there will say u was no milk ,no need to breastfeeding la all kind of reson. The food are poor too.Ex:The breakfast time is 8.30am but the cooker alway serve on 9.15am.Even the breakfast are just one "man tou". All food they post at facebook are differen when u stay there u will know. The soup they are given inside are nothing just soup so u will dun know what soup u are drink.

same goes to Ebell Confinement Centre
Lots of babies got infected virus after staying there. My baby is one of the victim. There are more than 20 babies got infected one by one since Dec 2012.

Initially i wanted to bring my baby back home for few days and the lady name Mandy keep asking me not to worry and trust them. They will take good care of my baby. I trusted her and informed her once my baby start coughing please inform me immediately and she doesn't until i found out myself. Luckily that day i bring my baby out for routine check up and found out my girl is cough with full of phlegm!! It's so serious and my baby admitted ICU on the day. Please do not ever trust that lady! They are bullshit and take things for granted!! My girl end up staying in ICU for 4 days and hv to pay for the unexpected medical cost of RM3k++ It was during 1st day of chinese new year some more!!

I would like to recommend Happy Dolphine Confinement Home in Penang. This is the confinement home that 100% support breastfeeding. (no formula, no bottle feeding, no pacifier, balanced diet not just oil and meat)
The owner Connie Mooi is the core member of Penang MMPS. She will be there to guide mothers how to breastfeed and rest at the same time.
What's best is they let BB room-in with mother to promote bonding, unlike many other centres where BBies are all kept in nursing room, you don't know what caretakers did to your baby.

Go Happy Dolphin if u are thinking of fully BF ur babies. Nice environment with babies sleeping beside mothers. Losing point is, they do not have pantang for food and drinks. Find their fb for more info.

Any good confinement center in Penang Greenlane area who support breastfeeding?

Anonymous said...

Go to Happy Dolphin Confinement Home in Penang for a 100% breastfeeding support. Connie Mooi, the owner, is the core member of Penang MMPS and she's here to guide mothers on the correct breastfeeding techniques. BB room-in is another advantage as it promotes mother-child bonding. Nurses here are nice and friendly too. They are always there to help with just a call on a button, 24 hours. And if you're too tired, you can always ask them to look after your baby while you get some rest and bring to you when bb needs feeding. Also, this modern confinement home provides 6 nutritious meals with 2 personalised different herbal soups daily and unlike many traditional confinement meals, they come in different lots of variety.

Hi all mummies,

did anyone of u have any comments for Joyee confinement center?

I'm about to choose this center as it is nearer to my house. But so far, no comment / forum about this confinement center.

Thanks.

Anonymous said...

i strongly recommend happy dolphin. their nurses really like baby and really take good care of baby like their own little brother/sister. i like their food also. many variety, got follow pantang also at the same time healthy type. very nice food. my health definitely is better now as i eat more fruits and veges during the confinement stay there. most important is breastfeed. i did my first confinement in other center. received none breastfeeding support, so failed. but this time i went happy dolphin, fully breastfeeding support i got from connie n happy dolphin. connie is there to give full guidance and consultation, despite of her family is in butterworth. the first day i went in, she already taught me many tips in breastfeeding. i really can enjoy my confinement and breastfeeding journey in happy dolphin.

Anonymous said...

Besides happy dolphin, any comments for other confinement center? like Ai Xin Confinement center, Elim Confinement center & Joyee confinement center? As i stay at Sungai Dua, I prefer center which nannies can take care of my baby. This is my second baby, I want to rest more. Thank you.

Anonymous said...

I stay at Ai Xin confinement Centre for both of my babies. my Opinion are below :
Bad
- Previously they don't close the curtain all the time (they will open from 10am till 8pm). Now, close all the time...we can't see babies from outsides
- Mothers cannot enter the babies room. First time mummies hard to learn the technique to take care of bb.
- the food is boring and so so ( very conversional type)
- Air con always spoilt.

Good
- They do encourage breastfeeding but not 100%. Is your choice- if you wish n determine to bf ur babies, no one can stop u. So far they don't force me to stop breastfeeding my babies. They will bring baby to my room even midnight daily 2-5am, I am fully breastfeeding my bb from day 1 until now.
- Related to the babies oil, they also not forcing us to use or buy.. I use that baby oil since my 1st baby, I find out that is good so I continue use.
- They have experience aunty to take care of baby
- Each room have toilet and have the water solar heater, you can always use the hot water to wash ur hand before breastfeeding or pump instead of using cold water.

So far, I do hear happy Dolphin is good..

I very regretted and unhappy to stay at I confinement lorong slim penang on October 2013. There not supportive and Lack of experience for breastfeeding. One in the midnight my breast feel engorged and I requested aunty bring bb for latch on. The aunty just asked me go to toilet pumped as I said I cannot pump now bb because my room mate sleep already. Then she asked sharon came. Sharon just turn black face then carry bb for me. I asked her can I bring bb to my room or just let bb in living room for latch on. She very no manner said bb in your hand now . you want make what decision is up to you la. I'm so unhappy with her attitudes. We paid the money stayed here one. They seem like take it for granted. That's fine. . I don't think much cos I need stayed to 30 days. But their internal servicing really encountered big problem. There are many part time nannies working and they no experience no responsibility. My room mate's bb coughing. I asked them need any action taken to prevent viruses spread. Aunty answer me doesn't matter drink breast milk bb won't get sick. Omg. ... then I told her boss. She answered the same..doesn't matter one. Truly understand they ignored and un responsible. Wonder why this centre can survive. So I prayed hard my bb will fine and smoothly. Thanks to god. And I wont give up to giv my bb breast milk. Even though aunty came my room asked for fm. I said she fully breastfeeding. I saw my bb eat pacifier without my permission then I told aunty don't give her. But when we bring bb home realised that she cry louder cos of pacifier. Now she addicted on it. This centre not a qualified confinement home. Pls take note!@@

i would like to recommend B WEll Confinement Home in 27B, Jalan Padang Tembak, Ayer Hitam, Penang. This is the confinement home that 100% support breastfeeding.
The owner Mdm Yap is a retirement nurse . She will be there to guide mothers how to breastfeed and rest at the same time.
Their nanies really like baby and really take good care of baby like their own little child.
A very special confinement home. Not as commercial as other centers. Its just like a home.

I left Happy Dolphin after spending a week there. Those good points that were mentioned here doesn't really exist now.Mothers have to take care of baby almost 24/7 and it's tiring for mothers since they.needed rest also. They claimed their staff nurses will handle most of the jobs like changing diapers, bathing etc but how often can you ring the bell to ask them for favors? The owner claimed their nurses cannot serve all mothers at once. I heard recently a lot of mothers left cos they didn't have enough rest and babies were not taken care of. For breast feeding it's better to consult a lactation consultant or experience midwife. That is already sufficient rather than spend money on this gimmick confinement centre.

Whereby, for me i tahan for 3 weeks. Balance 1 week money refuse to return is ok, But then the herbs for a week balance also refused to return. So I have to continue confinement at home for 2 weeks more. Press bell too many times also got complaint from nurses. Before check in clarified that HD will assist any help after we pressed the bell. I was very disappointed, same as well to my families, friends...

i'm staying in happy dolphin now. they've changed all the nurses. for me, they are quite helpful. nurses help take care my baby downstairs if i wanted uninterrupted sleeps. if i wanted baby sleep with me, they bring the baby up for me. overall, i'm quite satisfied and happy here. no complaints at all.

Happy Dolphin the best confinement center u want to be. Before that, if u really want a 1 on 1 assistance, get a CL at home. All centers will not be able to support all mothers 24 hours tho they claim to in the adverts. I went to a center named Happy Dolphin because i am a breastfeeding freak. I hate even looking at any other alternatives. Here, u can co sleep with ur baby 24 hours, but if u want some time alone, feel free to ring the bell. Dont hesitate. Nurses may be lazy at night but if u think they not robots, just tell the owner! She will take ur advice n make it work. Many things improved during the whole month i was there. Immediate action done. No pressure whether u want to bf or whatever altenatives but they encourage u to do the best bf way for long term success which is not mix feeding for 1 year but exclusive bf for 1 year above. More importantly, i can bath everyday with/without herb n i had no joint pains til now 2 months postnatal. Cuz i could drink plain water, drink lots of milo, eat 6 times a day, great food, great body hygiene, and great mother to baby communication via co sleep, bf, cuddling, n baby talks. U can have enough rest if u r not picky eater, nurse while u sleep lying down. 24 hrs aircon. Friendly staffs, and thank u Connie Mooi.

If you wish to breastfeeding your baby, think happy dolphin will be the best choice. As the founder Connie is lactation consultant and also nutritionist. She very knowledgeable in breastfeeding knowledge. Another good point staying there is they provide various variety of food so that mother won't be too boring having almost same type of confinement food. I did have a good stay there but maybe different mother having different perception? Hehe..anyway, I think it's worth for me in paying the price. =)

Hi all I heard a new breastfeeding confinement home called little angels newly opened in tanjung tokong area. This centre allows baby rooming in with the mother and also provide baby room care service 24 hours. They hire professional nurses and also supervise by a lady doctor. They provide healthy vegetarian and non vegetarian diet depending on your choice. I heard they are giving extra discount on top of the early bird promotion if u register before 31th jan 2014. Call them at 0129847660 for more info or visit their fb-http : / / www.facebook.com/littleangelsconfinement

I didn't have any rest at all while in HD. The owner doesnt care abt babies or mothers' well being. Owner's 3 yr old son also running into roomd disturbing babies & mothers having a rest. Bcos I have signed the contract & was not allowed for return of my money I tahan for 4 weeks. In the end my mum helped me for another 1 mth confinement when I reached home.

I was told the same thing as well after I pay deposit...and luckily I withdrew my stay there before delivering my bb. I lost my deposit money but am glad made the right decision.

I will never recommend any mother's to stay in Happy Dolphin because I had a very bad confinement experience there. First Connie Mooi told me that she is a one to one breastfeeding consultant which I would say is not true, she only comes to my room to chit chat but not to give me breastfeeding knowledge. She also calls herself as a nutritionist which is not true, she doesn't have any prove about that. When she comes to my room she will chat then suddenly her small son will interrupt and she just don't bother . She will just go out without saying a sorry. No manners at all. There is also cockroaches in the room which means there is no hygiene most of the time she's busy on her laptop.,and when I ask her certain question she will answer me in a rude way like ' so what can I do'? The confinement home is noisy most of the time because her kid's will be watching tv with the volume increased. This causes a headache for me because me and my baby can't sleep. And her son is always shouting n screaming and she doesn't take any action for that. The nurses there are friendly, they really handle all the babies with care. They are good but not able to handle all babies at a time because there are lack of staff's. But sorry to say that I felt that some nurse's were rough. I also felt unsecured. But at the same time I think that they are much more helpful than Connie. The worse problem is that somettimes the centre runs out of electricity. The supper provided is bread and cereal drink almost everyday. The bad thing is they have cctv at every corner which I think there is no privacy for the mother's at all. At night the nurses will be struggling because all babies will cry at the same time but Connie will never bother to have a look about what is happening. Such a irresponsible owner I would say. A lot of improvement is required in Happy Dolphin if she wants her company to go on.

Anonymous said...

My gosh..I experienced the same situation as you. HD really has no experienced in providing confinement services to mothers. When I confront Connie she defended her centre was to help mothers breastfeeding and not focusing on taking care of mothers after delivery. She also not considered a person who truly understands how to take care of mothers after delivery. When I confronted her about my problems she said during her confinement she's able to breastfeeding, cook and take care of baby all on her own. What a rude person. I paid so much money for services to take care of me and my baby but instead the owner expect me to be like her - handling everything myself. She's also very cocky and not bothering about our mothers' problems. She doesn't share her knowledge in breastfeeding with us but just came to our room with her son to chit chat & disturb us. We mothers talked about the same problem we had with her & HD. To be honest breastfeeding is not much of a mystery and you can read books or consult a nurse or midwife for advice.Never spend your money at Happy Dolphin. You will regret and upset like most mothers here. I guess most mothers feedback here are not trying to tarnish HD image but just sharing with other mothers what we have gone thru at this centre.

Hi all, I would like to suggest Joyee comfinement centre.my sister in law just delivered a bb during CNY, the service was satisfied, very caring n young nanny who are very helpful during her stay there.my sis In law feeling ease as they did a special homemade steamboat for her, and it's really surprised her.she love the spacious environment n overall she is happy.

I stay at HD too, for my understanding CCTV is for monitor the nurse performance no harmful for me. Food is just ok, not every meal is my favorite, but i think bread or cereal for supper is quite good for digest before sleep. Sometime have red bean soup, papaya milk, sesame cereal is good for boost milk. About Ms Connie's son, I think is time to send him to nursery. Anyway, I enjoy my holiday in HD, Nurse is paying attention to my baby with love and gentle, my baby keep pu/po frequently at midnight also they serve with smiling face. Everyone have difference characteristic, Ms. Connie is quit a direct person nonetheless, she do take action after receive my complain. The time I stay in HD I notice she got hire Insecticidal expert to prevent insect. Maybe is after the "cockroaches" incidents? I don't know.

Dont choose E-Bell!!!! My son is one of the victim who suffer flu during the confinement period!!!
They are all "rubbish", no matter the owner(management) or cook or nurses!!!
As know, they only have one experience nurse is working with them! The rest are all trainee or so called "experience" auntie. Especially the "nurse" who work in night time, more terrible!!!
At first, I choose Ai Xin but I received their last min message on Oct'12 saying that they were been instructed to temp close for investigation by Ministry of Health while my due date was Dec'12...
Have no choice, I search online in rush and I saw Ebell who still have available room. I have no other choices bcos of year dragon...
The first day I enter, I feel regret and wanna go home imme cos I don't feel comfortable in sudden! But, I have to stay there bcos my husband need to rush back to KL for his work and nobody can take care of me during the confinement period...
I feel proud my sixth sense is so accurately!!!
I'm newly mother which totally no any experience in breastfeeding, however, there's a "friendly" auntie who also a cook taught me the skill. BUT, she told me not to get my son to take my breast milk on the first few day bcos "they" are "poison" milk which keep inside our breast for almost 30yrs and I believe cos the milk not white is yellowish... How stupid am I, right!!!???
Not only this... This auntie will keep coming to our room and chat with my "roommate" and their topic is how bad of this confinement center and the management! And many many others topic... Speechless...
For food, is totally diff from what u see in their website or brochure! Even my grandmum also feel poor to me to take that kind of so called "confinement" meal!!! Not only this, mummies have to wash ur own milk bottle; mummies have to walk to "kitchen" to have ur meal (not they serve and bring to ur room)!
Another thing, they won't take any action or dont care if ur baby get sick or infected! This is what I can't acceptable!
When I enter this center just few days, there's one baby was infected by some virus to cause breathing problem (not so sure the actual situation) and admitted to ICU then the mummy also chose to leave earlier before her confinement period.
Me, also the same! I left the center during my 14th day of confinement period bcos my son was infected by flu. The funny thing is I'm the one who found my son get flu and I did request them to monitor my son but nobody informed me earlier... The reason is my next roommate's son was suffering serious cough and flu but the baby can still bring out from the nursing room and bring back to "our" room to spread the "virus".
I'm worried the case will become worse so I chose to leave and they didn't refund the balance and I don't feel to argue with them,
Before I left, I heard there are some babies are affected "red eye" illness on 2nd floor actually. Bcos of the management don't care so some mummies also left before their confinement period.
Who knows, 1st floor are affected by cough & flu virus!
As I know after I left, there's few babies are also got affected and there's one baby was admitted to ICU more than a week and cost my roommate RM20K....
Conclusion: Don't choose EBell no matter what!!!

Hi, don't choose E-Mother. The nanny services was poor. I don't want to give my babies pacifier, but one of the nanny complain that my babies always ask for milk and don't want to sleep at midnight, she said my babies mouth always open to look for something's to suck. Ok, we'll, end up I concede and give pacifier to my babies coz I worries if my babies always cry at midnight I dunno what will they do with my babies. After a day I saw my babies suck empty milk bottle pacifier, I ask the nanny: "why I have provide the pacifier u still let him use empty milk bottle pacifier?" Then the nanny said he don't like the pacifier and ask me to buy a new one. What? I already dislike my babies take pacifier and now I have concede and provide it and now end up they still give me such a shit things!

I had my confinement in HD in September last year. For me, it's an amazing 4 weeks experience. My objective in confinement center selection is to look for one that 100% Support Breastfeeding, so without even visited the place, I've already paid my deposit. Connie is a very friendly person. She helped me quite a lot, gave me encouragement when I was lodging with my baby for jaundice. There was once my baby was very fussy and she came to my room 4am in the morning with nurse.

They don't force your baby to be with you 24/7, unless mother requested that. For my case, when nurses brought food for me, they even asked me if I want them to bring baby down so I can rest.

I love the food there cause it's not the boring traditional food. 6 meals a day, including milk booster sometimes. There was even birthday celebration for mothers there.

Connie's son is behaving just like any other kids are behaving. For me, it's a bonus experience that prepares my baby to face real life experience out there since we don't get to have quiet environment all the time especially when baby is with babysitter. Being too spoilt with comfort during confinement is just going to make our 2nd month post confinement a harder time to get through for both mother and baby.

With all being said, this is just my personal experience. Everyone will have their different experience. But if you are very particular on tiny details as some mothers posted, you may opt to pay additional RM1k-2k to hire a confinement lady.

I have just completed my 1 month confinement at Happy Dolphin Confinement centre in April 14. I would say there are room for improvements to make the place better however in general I observed a lot of improvements in HD especially on the TnC where longer visiting hours is permitted and bottle feeding was allowed. In fact, the nurses there provide guidance on how to bottle fed ebm to my baby. The first week guidance and support from the nurses and owner (Connie) is important to kick start a smooth breastfeeding and becoming a mummy journey. I am very thankful that HD nurses are all very friendly and committed.

I just finished my confinement at Happy Dolphin in April 2014 (2 weeks ago) and I had a very good and happy breastfeeding journey. Connie has been a great help and source of encouragement.

As I had c-sec and was in the hospital for 5 days, as a first time worried mom, breastfeeding is very new and challenging to me. And very painful too! Luckily, I had attended Connie's Breastfeeding Class before my delivery, so I was able to latch the baby within first hour. Connie gave highly invaluable advice via SMS which helped me through my time alone in the hospital, as the first 5 days are crucial for breastfeeding my baby.

If I had not stayed at Happy Dolphin, I don't think I would have had such great success at breastfeeding. The environment and support is so important for breastfeeding. I get to sleep with my baby beside me 24/7. :) (And I don't have to worry that my baby will be secretly fed formula milk by nannies.)

I want the best for my baby, so no matter how difficult the sacrifice, I am willing to do it.

I actually got to know about Happy Dolphin from Angie's Blog, and after further research, I signed up right after visiting the place. Hence, I am very surprised to read the complaints about Happy Dolphin, which I think some are rather unfair. Perhaps, each mother has her own expectations and perceptions. (Well, I guess if you don't mind to feed formula milk, and prefer baby to be taken care in separate room by nannies, and want to follow strictly all the pantang larang, then Happy Dolphin may not be for you.)

In fact, I booked my place 9 months in advance, as soon as I got to know I'm pregnant! :) coz places are limited, and I definitely wanted a breastfeeding friendly environment. And although Happy Dolphin is actually so far away from my home, it is worth it.

I actually learned to care for my baby, so after the confinement, I am able to take care and understand my baby, as the bonding has been formed from the very start.

Although other confinement centers said that they "encourage breastfeeding", they don't allow you to sleep with your baby, and they even offer free formula milk! (Though some mothers like this arrangement, this is definitely not what I wanted.)

As for food, I liked it because it was nourishing and sensible. Plenty of nutrition and fibre, so I did not suffer from constipation. The food gave me energy for my nightly breastfeeding sessions.

The frequent breastfeeding sessions contracted my uterus so fast! :)

And... no nagging aunties around to say what I can or cannot do! :))

I'd like to say that I'm not paid nor am I connected with Connie or Happy Dolphin in anyway. I just did my confinement at Happy Dolphin for the full 4 weeks there.

I just feel that it's definitely a great place to stay if you want a successful breastfeeding experience.

I just done my confinement in Happy Dolphin in April 2014. Im satisfied with the cleaniness of the place, the friendiness of the staffs and profession of the nurses and the owner. Foods are yummy although they are not the traditional type. In fact,i cant take the traditional type due to my breastfed baby has prolong jaundice. About the owner's 3 years old son, i would suggest owner dont let him alone at upstair, or else he will open each mother rooms to search for his mother and inevitably disturb other mothers' rest. Overally it is meeting my expectation throughout my confinement period in HD.

Just finished confinement in Country Home, most of the nannies here is part time, just 1 full time nannies, always keep changing. After pump the milk need to bring down by ourselves, the owner Fern said the nannies will not go up to take. Meal time also need to go down and eat, everyday up and down stairs 10+ . Until not yet full moon already have backaches! Request for take to upstairs table or room but the owner not allow, she scared her room smelly or become dirty! Food also need to improve, same food. repeated 3-4days every week and the taste is Not nice, the Ginger and sesame oil just put a little bit. Soup also tasteless!
The center here almost all area cover by CCTV, the owner besides monitor her workers also monitor the mummies here and the visitors. Feel no privacy! (What u doing she also will know )
Some of the share room (2 person and above room) no curtain or the curtain just can cover half, and the husband or men visitor can come in, very inconvenience for us to breast feeding or pump milk.

1-lunch...cheap vege,no kampong chicken, plain soup without herbal tastes.
2-everyday tong sui or only plain pong pia for tea time.
3-very dirty not enough
housekeeping done.
4-babysister,part timer on night not well train, mixed up different brand of milk powder for bb
5-force ppl to do slimming wrap, when sign-in package, no refund if u are not suitable for the wrap...hahaha!!!!!
6- bb take care by nanny force to drink 4-5 onces of milk,no drink water. Very unhealthy. Recently alots of baby catch flu and they sent them home(without responsibility) I recommend all future mother search others center before you commit.

I want to share my experience with AiXin Confinement Center on behalf of my wife.

Our first day there (month of April 2014), baby and mom were shoved into the ground floor room. We were told to stay there for 2 days and then move up when someone else move out from upstairs. I approach Joyce (the owner) and asked this is not what has been promised to us when we made our booking. She just shurg off my question does not even bother to give us an explanation. Conditions of the ground floor room were stuffy and it has an old rustic smell to it. 2 single beds available but the mattress were in bad conditions, you can literally feel the springs poking back at you! At RM3500 / person, twin sharing room (that’s what we booked back in August 2013), the mattress can definitely be better.

Two days into the confinement, alas my wife moved upstairs into a ‘proper’ 2 pax room. Smell is gone, mattress a way better. But to our surprise, there are 3 people in the room! There is a makeshift smaller room that has been partitioned in within the room. Later we learnt that the 3rd occupant is actually an "emergency case" as she has performed a D&C. Nobody really mind, but her attitude is definitely a problem. Loud banging on the toilet door whenever she enters and giving my wife and the other roommate ‘warning’ they cannot switch on the lights when she's sleeping. Her makeshift room door is always shut tight and no light is able to penetrate in, so we're not sure what exactly her problem is. 2 days into the ordeal my wife talked to Joyce but nothing happens. On the 3rd day, I stepped in and demanded Joyce to get her to ‘straighten up’, either she does it or I will do it. Again I reminded her that we paid for a 2pax sharing room, not 3pax. Joyce doesn’t take the complaints seriously; she just wants to maximize her profit margin.

You need to bring your own toilet papers and hand soap. Laundry services are bad with clothes smelling damp and not fresh even without rainy season. Curtains from inside the nursery is always closed, nobody is allowed to enter the nursery except for the nannies. Even the doors are quickly closed up when they bring out the baby crib out for you to take a look. It’s as if their doing something illegal! For the duration of stay there, 3 packs of diapers were used! I find it mind boggling! The nannies mentioned that our baby drinks 3.5oz of milk each time. I find this not true as my baby can barely finish 3oz of milk. I wonder what actually happens to the formula milk powder that we bought. Overall, I would rate AiXin only 2.5 stars out of 5.

Dear all mommies,
I would like to share with everyone regarding my stay in Joyee Confinement centre.
The nannies are helpful, friendly, just closed like my family members.
More concern is transparency of bb room and every corners are monitoring by CCTV.
I prefer my bb to have BF and formulated which ever is convenience for myself. And i can said nannies were co-operated with me closely.
The environments is clean and peace and foods are not bad too.

Highly recommend mums to be to consider or you may contact the person in charge Ms. Alice for more details.

O'hana Resorts Sdn Bhd located at 213, Jalan Macallister,10450 Penang, has closed down !! Good news to all. Yes, I heard too many complains as they were not professional confinement centres as we Chinese can't take some " Windy " food but they served that in their diet.

I stayed at Joyee confinement center back in May/June 2014 and I would say that it is a good place to stay.

They have clean and good environment for mommies to rest. The nannies are experienced, friendly and they treat babies well. During my stay, they have 3-4 nannies on rotation taking care of 3 babies. One thing that attracts me to this center was the baby room; transparent. You can view your baby all the time, no hanky-panky behind closed curtains! The baby room is also equipment with cctv so that you can view what goes on from upstairs.

As I am a first time mother, there are many things I don't know about confinement. The person in charge, Alice has a wide knowledge on the confinement rules and how to take care of newborn babies. Therefore you can learn a lot from her. She is always open to feedbacks and she takes them seriously.

Oh, I absolutely enjoyed the food there. Alice cooks the meals herself. You get different variety of food and nutritional soups everyday. You can always let her know your food preference and she will try to make them for you. She makes nice confinement pasta... :) Food is served upstairs so you don't have to walk up/down the stairs.

They also supports BF, and gives FM upon request. I have no regrets staying there. It is a homey and peaceful place to rest and relax... :)

Hi mummies, rolled over all the comments. I can't see anyone stay at Sunrise Confinement Centre which located at Island Glades. I stay at Sunrise Confinement Centre for my first maternity on April 13. They had clean environment and good local chinese nannies to take care mother/baby. They fully support breastfeeding!
Their chef is a local aunty too, any that mummy don't satisfied, can complain to the Tauke Soh and she will take action! Example like air conditioner, or the way those nannies take care your baby!
So i decided to go back there for my second maternity! I just paid 500 deposit, my due date is on 1st Jan 15! Wish all mummies lucky, can found a satisfied confinement cantre =)

Hi there... I've just recently completed my confinement at Happy Dolphin, and I've got to say that I'm satisfied with my stay there. My lil' boy Nathaniel was very well cared for by the team of diligent and dedicated nurses there at HD. Even at times when my boy got cranky and hardly sleeps at night, the nurses patiently nurses him back to sleep so that I was able to get the rest that I needed, only waking up to feed my lil' one when brought up to my room since he prefers to sleep in the nursery most of the time. My grateful thanks to the nurses Shakila, Hayati, Faizah, and Afeza.

My deepest thanks goes to Connie for her dedication and sharing of knowledge about breastfeeding. I wasn't prepared for what lies ahead and I've got my fair share of doubts and worries if I could possibly breastfeed my lil' one well. Her constant encouragement and reminder of staying positive had helped me pull through my worries. I am grateful for all the help rendered by Connie at times when I was truly in need.

Food served at HD was good... 6 nutritious meals per day. Not the very typical type of confinement food but substantially good for mothers there. I especially love aunty's home made desserts.

So, if your objective is to have a successful breastfeeding experience, HD would be a good choice for you.

I wonder why nowsday mostly confinement house provide western food, such as wantan mee, curry mee, fish n chip, chicken chop etc. Actually all this food are not so healthy to mothers. My friends even worst stay at home confinement house which provide bak kut teh and sa po rice as their lunch or dinner. And they serve fruits as well.(fainted) Even it is delicious but not so good. Iam request a confinement house which can serve a normal meal but with herbal and ginger, sesame oil. That is enough for me.
Babies should look by nannies as we come for rest but not to take care our self. But i resist not to use pacifier. Feeding breast milk is the perfect but if not enough formula must be given. I will due on next year March but still survey the confinement house. I hope that i can find it.

Hi...my wife stayed at ELIM before and won't recommend this center as my baby was virus infected and hospitalized. It was happened during Q3 2012, in fact there were few babies infected during that period; I have confronted with the owner (Lisa) and the nannies as the root cause was the 1st infected baby was not being quarantine from the baby room and taken excuses that the baby has recovered.
At the end, my wife left the center but unfortunately our baby was hospitalized for 1 week, poor little 1...
There was no refund at all and not even apologize from the owner, Lisa. What I understood from the other mothers, there was no actions taken to clean up / clear the babies room after few babies hospitalized & reported. Not recommended ELIM as the choice of consideration.

terrible confinement experience in Happy Dolphin, basically no rest and no sleep at all for the month, need to take care of baby by ourselves, very tough for first time mummies, if your baby has colic or reflux or both, the life will be even worse, because the nurse will expect you to take care of the baby by your own especially at night when baby cry. The maid show you the very unhappy face if you baby cry at night because disturb her sleep. full occupancy is 9, and only one bathroom with toilet, can you imagine how's the queue in the morning to clean ourselves. even if there are empty rooms available, the mothers with colic babies are not allowed to move to other rooms to prevent disturbing other mother and babies' sleep UNLESS you pay extra RM1000. There were many many nights I heard my roommate rushed out of the room carrying her crying baby because she afraid to wake me and my baby up, this is definitely bad for postnatal mum.

All mummies,

Few questions that you need to consider before you enroll for the confinement program:

1) Do you pay few thousands of your hard earn money to spend on the confinement enter which you need to take care of your own baby? For your info, my wife was having serious back paint after the delivered of first baby as have to take care of the baby during the stay of the confinement. i thought you paid for it for a good service?

2) Do you need a good security for your lovely baby while taking care by the nannies? You should consider the safety of your babies under the care of the confinement center.

3) This blog is good for the quick review and sharing, BUT, i will still strongly suggest you to go to visit those confinement centers by yourselves as i believe there are few confinement centers owners are putting some comments which considered as "blackmail" to the others. You can see their promotion to their centers as well in this blog.

4) Perform the smart comparison in regards to the service and quality providing by the confinement centers. You can decide by ourselves which is best fit for you.

In short, i'm the father of two kids and the bottom line is, go to visit those reputable centers by yourselves and perform smart comparison for your hard earn money for the sack of the mummy and baby benefits.

Hmm ... I have a fren that wanted to enroll to HD after hearing my good experience there was frighten by the recent negative comments here .. I was contemplating whether I should defend or not , would it sound like I'm "promoting" HD ? but as a breastfeeding mother n a pharmacist , I hear so very often mothers asking me "how to increase my milk flow , why my baby wouldn't latch on ?" And so very often the failure started at the beginning of the month. I wouldn't defend HD any further , as their customers testimonial are all over their facebook page .. but I would like to say if u have doubts or questions to ask , u can always msg their page n maybe connie will let u talk to us ( my room mates and housemates in HD ) (yes we are that much willing to help breastfeeding mothers) then you make your own choices .. its just pitiful that HD wasn't given a benefit of doubt ..

I guess everyone's criteria is different in choosing a confinement centre , I hope all mothers can have make the best decision that suits their own need : )

Hi everyone...I would like to share my experience about Joyee Confinement Centre as I just completed my confinement period there. This centre encourage more on breastfeeding and the food for mummies are very traditional. The other part is the centre does not close the BB room curtains and thus mummies need not to worry leaving baby with nannies. Next, i do find the nannies are very friendly and helpful and ensures both mum and baby health...and of cause the nannies are taking care as part of their family member and service is provided 24 hrs...So I strongly recommend Joyee Confinement Centre for any mummies out there looking for a happy and comforting time after ur delivery :)

i plan to spend my whole confinement month there :) just some sharing..

I am quite suprised because no one comment bad about Joye Confinement. I was heard recently have alot of issues.

This confinement center if and only if for those mother
- 100% obey and follow their 'rules' (don't comment or give opinion)
- who prefer 100% full rest.
- come along with alot breast milk and also pump out to bottle or pack for them feeding for you.(else, they will prefer formulate milk).

I agree with the comments above about Joyee confinement center. Below are few personal view from me after staying there for 1 month:-

1) baby care is the main concern for all parent. However, they are lack of nannies if their center is running full house. Ratio nanny:babies = 1:6.

2) for those mummies who wish to breastfeed their babies, please think twice. They do not have knowledge at all on breast feeding. Even the basic knowledge of handling breastmilk. A statement can come from one of the so called most experience nanny: if you do not have milk means you don't have milk already, even if you direct latch your baby also won't help you in increasing your milk.

3) food wise, I can consider this is slimming meal. Everything is less: portion, oil, choice. We are being served red bean soup as tea time nearly 3-4 times per week.

Overall the nannies are nice, except for one who mainly work as night shift and so called the most experience ones, and all of them are lack of breastfeeding knowledge. For those mummies who wish to breastfeed your babies, please reconsider. You will not have full support from them. The very next thing they will convince you is to top up with formula ( best is the formula which they sell in their center). Otherwise, you shouldn't have any problem if to choose Joyee.

4) next is the cleanliness, rate: 3/10. They claimed that they will put the mattress under the sun before the new comer arrive, however I don't see this happen during my stay when there is any new mummy coming. One of the room had some insect issue and yet the owner does not look into this issue seriously, and put the blame on the mummies who stayed there.

As a conclusion, if you plan for formula fed and slimming meal, no harm to choose Joyee. If you plan for fully breastfeed your babies, please reconsider, except if you are experienced and have plenty of milk. Otherwise you may have breastfeeding post natal depression.

P/s: the owner is quite superstitious. You will be advice to seek advice from temple if your babies always cry especially at night. Despite consider if babies need cuddle or colic. They will tends to put a blame on you for it especially if you direct latch your babies.

Anonymous said...

I strongly agree with the both comments above.Joyee confinement center does not support breastfeeding. If you insist want to direct feed. They will leave the baby for you to take care on your own. They will keep on asking whether you have enough milk and try to convince you to top up with formula.I nearly get depression at that time because of their 'caring'.Luckily i did not affect by them.Food wise, i really feel that is very bad.The person in charge told me they serve traditional food, but 1 month i stayed there, even very normal 'ma you ji' i never try it.All the food is very small portion.Overall 1/10.

Dear All,

I would like to recommend "My Jewel"(formally named as E-bell). During my confinement, I reckon the change of Management brings back the confidence level and trust of this confinement centre. Below are my sharings:-

Nursing care - all the nannies are well trained and professional enough to guide mommies on handling baby. Besides, I m impressed with their tight management by avoiding direct contact with visitors or outsiders that potentially bring viruses to contaminate the nursing room area and babies. However, there's a window open 24/7 to allow all mommies or visitors to view and monitor their baby from time to time. I m fully supported with BF and latching as well. (Ranking 9/10)

Location - the place is serene, it's a perfect place for mommies to rejuvenate and recharge. (Ranking 9/10)

Food - It's creative and delicious especially their dessert. (Ranking 8/10)

Overall, I am delighted with their service. Most importantly the principle-Joyce, she has a positive heart to accept opinions and comments for improvement. She is also a caring and responsible person.

Highly recommending Joey Confinement located at Minden Height, quiet and peaceful place. First few days when I checked in as first time mummy, things not went well as expected, was over worried and stressful. Luckily the baby caretakers are patience enough to give me proper guidance and advices, I could continue the strength to breastfeed my babe and have a peace of mind to rest well. The foods serving here is ok if you are not the choosy type, with variety of choices too :)

I would like to recommend a new confinement house at Jelutong, Georgetown area (Behind Maybank) named Memories Confinement Centre 家樂兒產後護理中心。The three storey house is quite new and so it's very clean and well maintained. They have a see through glass baby room. The nannies are all support breast feeding. You can see them hugging the babies with full of experienced and loving the babies like their babies. Food there is also tasty and have variety of choices as the chef have almost 10 years of cooking of confinement meals. However their price is quite reasonable. Maybe there are quite new so trying to build their repo for their centre. I heard that they have provide baby day and night care as well for 2 months old babies. If you are not such concerned about their interior renovation and just needed a comfy , relaxing , safe , experienced nannies & tasty food you probably will love this confinement.

The center is cosy, I was there in june this year. I like that its not overly crowded. Normally they only take abt 6 to 7 mommys. they also are very support breastfeeding and nanny are friendly and good. Only complain is there is not many variety with the tea. Otherwise I am very happy with the center

Totally agreed and like your comments!

Anyone heard about the newly open Carnation Confinement Center which opposite Island Hospital (behind YMCA building)?
I visited the center, it's very new and wide space, just not sure about the baby care and mommy foods.

Is anyone have any review on Jia Yi confinement centre? Heard the facilities eg, bed are abit shrunk n old, not too good for backache mother. TQ

I have a review for E Mother confinement centre of Island Park. First of all, I chose a single room so that my hubby could sleep over occasionally. That was agreed upon when I booked the room. But when I checked in, they requested for additional charges. I was persistent that this was not agreed upon. And they just said this is a new rule. I think they are not being honest about doing business. Food wise is definitely on the zero scale. Serve bread with tuna, kaya, pau for tea. I mean, seriously I can do that myself. Where is the home cooked food? Lunch and dinner is almost the same vegetables and soup. No variety. Can't blame the cook as she is not from confinement background. The centre just simply hire aunty to cook. Now, the nannies. Some is good, some is just plain lazy. I would not recommend this place to anyone as they are not serious in the service and don't keep their promise.

Too late to rea u comment, I strongly agree with you and I had have bad experience and nightmares there

I have been staying at Joyee confinement for a month, highly not recommend this place , having a lot of nightmares there, if you have chosen this place and pay deposit, good luck. Read the comments on 23 September 2015, I was too late to see the post. This is the worst confinement home.

I would like to clarify that in the end the boss did not ask further for the extra payment. That's all.

I would like to share my experience in Emother (Solok Gangsa).

1) Food : No variety. No nutritious value. Worst of all, the boss cooks "experimental" food which turned out horrible.
2) Nannies : Day nannies like to send the babies to the mothers especially when they are short staffed. Mummies don't get proper rest.
3) Boss : Very calculative. Everything also must charge. Limited usage of toilet rolls.

Overall, bad experience here and truly regret for choosing this place.

Hi all,
I would like to share our bad experience in E**** Confinement Center at Sg. Ara weeks ago.
Below is the summary that what we have been going through:
First of all, the meals that they promised (menu) are totally different with actual meals. The meals they served are not nutritious for mummy just after delivery. It just a normal meal with few slides of ginger and few drops of sesame oil. I can easily get it from economy rice food stall. They even used Ajinomoto so that the food tastes better. They even serve her “windy” food at her first week. For Chinese, we are very crucial on first month confinement. So the food MUST NOT be “windy” or have salt or other seasoning to be added on the food except for lots of ginger and sesame oil.
Second, the safety of this confinement is very unsecure. No CCTV facilities is fine for me. But my main concern is, everyone can simply walk in and go into baby's room without any approval or key. The baby's room door and living room door is unlocked. The person in charge always went missing or left nobody in the living room to watch out who is coming in or out. The windows curtain of baby's room is always closed. We do not know what they are doing inside baby's room.
Third, the nannies always gave too much milk for our baby. Our baby will vomit out the milk every time he finished it. The first day we already told the confinement boss that our baby was hungry for two days after born in hospital due to hospital only promote breastfeeding. Thus, our baby cannot eat too much milk at the beginning.
Fourth, this confinement center is very unprofessional. The first day my wife checks in that place, her period came out too much and caused their bed dirty. They blame on her that their bed gets dirty and they need to wash it again. Another thing is my wife forgot to flush the toilet just one time. So, each time when other people forgot to flush the toilet. They put the blames on her again. Also, the boss put my wife’s electricity breast pump and feeding bottle on unhygienic floor. The boss said that my wife feeding bottles causing their bed dirty.
Finally, the boss is very "money face". The total amount we paid is RM5k. We leave the center 2 weeks earlier and did not ask for any refund. But the boss still wants to collect RM10 from us. Because my wife owes her RM10 massage fees.

P/S 1: The cleanliness is very bad. During my wife stayed in that confinement, the dining table never mop/clean throughout the 2 weeks. They even found gecko's sh*t on her bread.
P/S 2: This is the new management since March of 2016 until now. The old management no more doing this business based on local neighborhood.

hi, chong,i can share with u the experience in happy confinement center. i just discharge from thr on 10/10/16. the environment overall quite ok...prob is they dun hv enough nannies to take k babies...i can still rmb oni 2 nannies take k 8 babies...i can they really messed up when 3 babies cried together...although sometime the philipine maid or the person in charge will help to feed or cuddle babies...but the maid is the 1 do housework , she wont b thr owaz for standby...tat person in charge nt owaz in the center too...the food cannot b accept sometime ...sometime salty n sometime no taste...if u r the modern person , then u can accept the menu..cuz nt owaz got herbs or sesame oil in the dishes..the most i cannot accept is they hv dog n bird behind the kitchen...so far the room hv adequate space for ppl to mobilise around...the person in charge, venus is very flexible person...if u got any pantang on food, u can owaz tell her n she can change for u...all the nannies are caring n patient...they hv 1 single room downstair...quite small...anyway, is cheaper than the single room at upstair。。most of the room at 1st floor except tat small single room...

I would like to draw your attention during my stay in Joyee confinement on June 16. I am happy to say that it's awesome to have my confinement there. Overall I like the traditional foods, missing so much and wish to have there again, hehe... Breast feeding my bb every two three hours once. Appreciate nannies effort no matter day and night. Thank you so much and is highly recommended to all new mummies to be! Happy confinement and take care!

Country Living Confinement Center is a trickery confinement center!
1. I didn't see any doctor visiting mummy for whole month
2. Nurse is a part time nurse, not 24 hours nursing care
3. Is a formula milk consultant confinement center, the lady boss told me that " You pump no milk, latch also no milk". this show how unknowledge she is.
4. And they also give you the information that your breastfeeding is not enough for your baby, use your formula milk first
4. Not encourage direct breast feeding, because they can't make a beautiful feeding record for baby and our body is high germ, that is not good for baby
5. Boss is a marketing professional, she will promote you to buy protein and honey. After you bought it, your breakfast, tea time or supper will be drink your own drink, not beverage provide from them. Besides that, she will ask you to clear your own shaker. She even ask me to share shaker with my roommate, the reason is her kitchen lack of place to put my shaker.
6. They will complaint your bb is very naughty and noise and ask you to provide pacifier.
7. After you fully paid the confinement fees, the attitude of boss will change
8. Meals is cooked on morning and served till dinner. Most of the breakfast, tea and supper is Milo. which we can do ourselves at home, no need go to confinement center.
9. Curtain at baby room will close when the nanny is not enough, got underage nanny which is her daughter which is one of the full time nanny that take care bb during daytime.
10. I am cesarean mom, she promise will bring meal to upstair for me but she only did it 6 days then ask me to down for every meal.
11. The environment looks nice but when raining day, the dining room and the second floor corridor will leaking
12. Only fan during dining and living room(the aircon at living room is not so cold)
13. Due to i am less milk mom, i request they bring bb to upstair for breastfeeding, they only do it on 1st 3 days and then refuse to bring for me. The reasons is my bb will cry when my milk is not enough for bb.
14. Boss will complain if your room aircon temperature below 24 degrees and always remind you that you have to switch off aircon when you leave your room for meals
15. The kitchen is super dirty which contains many cockroach. Some mummies seen the cockroach are moving on top on the bread. We had report this to the lady boss, her answer is "Any place also have cockroach.
Conclusion is mummy cannot take a good rest in country living confinement center. First, mummy have to walking up and down at least 10 times per day(5 for having meals, others will be send your pump materials for nanny washing or meet you visitor.

I would like to recommend Joyee Confinement Centre in Penang. I had a great experience during my confinement here.
The environment here are nice and peaceful. The most important thing is the BB room here is 24 hours open unlike many other centres where babies are all kept in nursing room, you don't know what caretakers did to your baby. The food is nice and not boring at all as the menu keep changing everyday.
The owner Alice is very friendly and helpful. As I am first time mother, lack of knowledge and experience will feel helpless when taking care my baby. She will be there to guide me on how to breastfeed and take care my little baby.
The nannies here also are very well trained and experienced. They are willing to share their experience and give guidance to me.

We have a very good and pleasant experience during our stay in Joyee Confinement Centre. We are very satisfied with this centre in terms of baby care taking, mom’s care taking, foods, hygiene etc.

Baby caring:
The caretaker – Alice and her nannies team are very experience and friendly, they taking care of the baby very well, very patient to my baby boy. Nannies willing to share their experience and guiding us how to take care the baby. At Joyee, they encourage moms to breast feed the baby, but in the case of breast milk shortage, they have no concern to top up formula milk for my baby.

Mom caring & food:
At Joyee, they care my wife well and arrange all the meals nicely according to the time frame, what food is consumable and which are not consumable (which might harm the new mama / causing windy body) at every stage. The food served are mostly Chinese traditional foods. Don’t worry about the food portion, it’s in huge portion, and it’s encourage to finish all the food so that both you and baby’s body is healthy. Alice also providing free liquor for my wife (free flow, haha), but she just consumed at reasonable amount. All the red / black date teas, rice tea are also being provided in unlimited amount.
P/S: Sometimes Alice will provide additional amount for the husband too.

Room & Hygiene:
Our rooms are single room (according to Alice, currently all the 4 rooms are treated as single room), so husband is encouraged to stay in for providing some help to the wife. Nothing to complaint on the hygiene as the mama room is clean, baby room also clean and purified.

Regards,
KY & Eve

So much said about Happy Dolphin.i did not see a signboard displayed at the house but just a miserable small board shown before you turn into that lane. It was alarming to notice that the nurses could run up and down the stairs while supporting the babies' necks with only one of their palms.I observed that the food served was no more than govt hospital food.No Ghee Hiang teelseed oil or minyak bijan used for cooking. No herbal chicken steamed for hours ir more ginger used. What was served was watery "herbal" soup with no chicken meat. Vegetables served were overcooked. The food served does not justify the money spent ie. 5k plus for a month. Since this is a centre that promotes breastfeeding, and less work to sanitise feeding bottles or feed babies, then pay more attention to food quality.

Hi mummies,
Got some experiences in Happy Confinement Center in Sg Ara n share for reference.
Food- portion is sufficient. One day 5 meals and free beverage. taste wise average. Soup almost tasteless.
Hygience - good. the maid will clean up daily.
Nanny - ratio is 1 to 3 babies. Got good one n got soso one. Sometimes also out of hand when all babies demand at the same times. Nanny will ask babies to wait.... haha...
Enviroment -spacious n bright.
Breastfeeding - the nannies can/will bring up baby to your room for breastfeeding. However i did experience the breastmilk was warm up too hot. Wondering how they take care the breastmilk.
Do provide lactation massage for first few days, one time massage, one time facial.
Overall, owner not very open for feedback. Once feedback, nannies got scolded make mummies feel bad.
