What is the solution come to your mind when you get to know your new born baby is having Jaundice?

I'm sure majority of the parents will send the baby to the hospital for phototherapy treatment.

But do you know you can have the phototherapy treatment at home?

I've chosen home phototherapy for my baby.

To me, I don't think I'll have good rest (during my confinement month) by staying together with my baby in the hospital.

That's why I went for 2nd option.

This home phototherapy treatment was recommend by a doctor.

There is a company which is renting the equipment for this treatment.

However, they won't rent the equipment to whose staying in the confinement centre.

It has to be at your home.

This is some kind of their rules & regulations.

I was so comfortable to be at home and at the same time looking at my baby having the treatment for 3 days.

Another thing is home phototherapy is much more cheaper than in the hospital.

What is Jaundice?

It is a yellow color of the skin and whites of the eyes due to excessive Bilirubin in the blood. Bilirubin is produced from the normal breakdown of red blood cells. Almost all babies have some Jaundice during the first few days of life. Jaundice usually appears around the second or third day of life. A Jaundiced baby's skin will usually appear yellow first on the face, followed by the chest and stomach, and finally, the legs. High levels of Bilirubin can cause brain damage (e.g. deafness and cerebral palsy).

黄疸是什么？

黄疸是在许多新生儿皮肤或眼白上见到的黄颜色。当血液中含有浓度过高的胆红素可使身体偏黄。胆红素是因为红血球定期分解所产生的。几乎所有的新生儿都会出现黄疸症的问题。新生儿理性黄疸会在出生后第二到三天皮肤开始变黄。黄疸通常首先会从面不呈现出来，然后随着胆红素上升而展延到胸，腹，臀部，腿部。胆红素指标严重的过高时可能导致脑部受损。

How can I tell if my baby is Jaundiced?

The color of the skin and whites of the eyes will appear yellow under natural daylight. Jaundiced will usually see it in the face first and as the Bilirubin level increases, the Jaundice graduallymove down to the chest and abdomen. If the hands and feet are Jaundiced, the Jaundice is severe. The only accurate way to tell if a baby has severe Jaundice is to do a blood test to check the Bilirubin level.

怎么知道我的婴儿有黄疸?

在明亮的地方，有黄疸的婴儿皮肤和眼白会变黄。黄疸通常首先从面部呈现出来，然后随着胆红素上升而展延到胸，腹，臀部，腿部。如果有严重黄疸，手掌和脚底也可呈黄色。若要准确知道黄疸的严重性，必须通过血液测试来检查胆红素指标。

How is Jaundice treated?

Mild Jaundice does not need any treatment and it will resolve on its own, usually within 2 weeks. If the Bilirubin level is high and rising quickly, it is treated by phototherapy. By exposing the baby to the special blue lights, the Bilirubin molecules will be able to be excreted easily. If the Jaundice is severe, a blood exchange with fresh blood may be required.

如何治疗黄疸？

大部分的黄疸都不需要治疗。轻微的黄疸症一般会在两周内便消失。如果胆红素指标高并且逐渐上升，主要的治疗为使用照光治疗(phototherapy) 。照光治疗时使用蓝光灯照射婴儿暴露出的皮肤，使到胆红素更容易排泄。如果有严重黄疸出现，换血治疗可以有效降低危险的高胆红素值。

Many mothers are going to confinement centres instead of hiring confinement ladies.

THE UGLY SIDE OF POS MALAYSIA

This incident happened a few months back.
My parents received this slip from their letter box.
We were curious they supposed to send the item to our door step.
I asked my daddy if they went out that day, but they didn't.
They were at home the entire day not only that the entire week they didn't go out.
This means the personnel from Pos Malaysia did not perform their duty.
They just simply put the slip into the letter box and lazy to go upstairs to send us the item.
They assume we all went out for work or something.
Maybe based on their experience 80% of the recepients will not be at home during office hour weekdays.
Look at the slip, they didn't put the time they were here (my parents' home).
And this will trouble us to collect the item personally at Bayan Lepas Pos Office.
What kind of service they are providing?
This is not the right way.
I'm speechless......

MY TOY - BABY'S ROOM (9/7/2010)

This is my toy - Handicraft.
I bought 1 set of the DIY Shop which contains of all the material needed to build a room/shop (depending on your preference).
There are many types of room/shop i.e. Baby's Room (the one I've done), Flower Shop, Phamarcy Shop, Noodle Restaurant, Bakery, Rose Garden & etc.......).
Since this is the first time I'm doing, I've chosen the most simple one.
Shall buy a more complicated models soon.
It's time consuming to build it part by part but it's nice.

It's 20th anniversary!!!
Gosh, time flies!!
We left our primary school for 20 years already.
1st May 2010, we were having our 20th Anniversary Gathering.
The organizer sets 1st May will be our gathering date every year.
So that people will have less excuses to be absent for the gathering (1st May - Labour Day).
We went back to our primary school to have a walk and refresh our lovely childhood stories in the school.
Our school has changed a lot.
There are 2 new huge buildings.
The old classrooms, library, hall, staff rooms have been demolished.
Left only our s0-called new building during our generation (standard 5 & 6 building).
Their new pupils' life have been upgraded.
They have at least 6 fans in a classroom and even fans in their toilets. (unbelievable huh...)

Last time was just like an abandoned land with sand only.

The school hall consists of 3 badminton courts whereby our old hall had only 1 court.

The shuttle cocks can always hit the ceiling due to the hall was too small.

This classroom is in the new building but look at the cleanliness.

What a shame for the pupils do not know how to take care of the school property.

Do you notice a small white board on your left.

The board is used for jotting down what & when is submission of the homework.

Last time we had 6 classes for each standard - M (Merah), K (Kuning), H (Hijau), U (Ungu), B (Biru), J (Jingga).

Now they have another 2 more - E (Emas) & P (Perak)

Our friend here was complaining the duster was badly broken and said that he'll donate 1000 duster to the school.

Most probably an empty promise. *laugh*

The wooden rostrum has been replaced by a stainless steel one.

My TV is BACK!!! (6/4/2010)

My TV was out of order on the first day of Chinese New Year, 真是大吉利是!
Few days before, my DVD player was down.
What can I say, 鸿运当头.
We missed all the good programs during CNY, SIEN!!!!
1 month plus without a TV in our home.
Brought for repair mid of March and finally came back this week.
Now I know, life without a TV is fine for me.
But life without a PC (with Internet connection) then my life will be miserable. ^_^

MY LIFE AT DE-GARDEN (11/1/10 - 7/2/10)

After the discharge from Pearl Maternity Hospital, I was sent to De-Garden Confinement Center for a 1-month stay. At first, I really got home sick although my hubby came to visit me & my baby everyday. Later on, I got used to it already.

My life at the confinement center was quite routine: eat, sleep and feed.
Chinese believes that a lady after delivery cannot take bath for at least 12 days.
We have people cook for us, do the laundry for us and taking care of our babies.
What else can we do at the center?

We have 5 meals per day:
8:30am Breakfast
11:30am Lunch
2:30pm Tea Break
5:30pm Dinner
8:30pm Supper

It's really hard to loose weight during the confinement month and also it's not advisable to be on diet on this particular month.
Chinese will eat a lot of herbs to recover the body and all the herbs are the heaty type.
My body was not used to the heaty herbs so my nose was bleeding a little bit.
This is so called 虚不受补.

This confinement center has wifi provided.
We can go online any time.
However, my hubby only brought me my notebook after 2 weeks.
His concern was I must spend my time to rest for the 1st 2 weeks as he knows that once I go online I'll be spending my time playing games.
He is right actually.
I understand his concern is for my own good.

Luckily I have nice room mates (Seok Foon & Sarah) to chat with, not that boring.
Not only that, I know new friends like Xuang Xuang, Yuet Kit, Josephine, Esther, Xiao Qi.
We had mama talk and stories sharing.
Miss the moment actually.

Another activity for the mothers is suntaning the babies (those who got Jaundice).

This day is one of my important day in my life.
After 9 months of pregnancy finally I met my little girl this day.
I was bleeding on the 8/1/2010 around 11:30pm.
Then my hubby took me to the hospital as according to my gynae if I have any sign (bleeding, contraction pain or water bag burst) I need to go to the hospital.
At first was still OK, my mild pain started around 2:00am until 9:30am when the doctor decided to break my water bag to accelerate my delivery.
By then I started to suffer the serious contraction pain.
That was killing me, no kidding.
I can't get a word to explain the pain I was sufferring only the mothers will understand it.
I was sent to the labour room around 1:00pm.
Trying hard to push out the baby but unsuccessful due to no energy after sufferring the pain for more than 10 hours. Then the gynae helped to vacuum out my baby with my push effort.
And finally, my baby was delivered at 2:33pm.
What a big release!!!
My hubby was beside me all the time.
He was so hurt seeing me suffer like this.
I thank him for giving me the supports, love him very much!!!

KIM CHI STEAMBOAT (2/1/2010)

We were having steamboat lunch on the 2nd day of 2010.
Nothing special to celebrate but to try out the Kim Chi steamboat.
We invited a few friends to have the steamboat together.
Normally we'll have 2 types of soup base, chicken/vegetable soup or Tom Yam.
This time we put Kim Chi instead of Tom Yam.
We were having Korean Chef Kim Chi for the soup.
It was spicy enough for our taste bud.
Yummy!
You may also try Kim Chi steamboat during the Chinese New Year reunion dinner as the CNY is around the corner.

NEWAY KARAOKE IN PENANG (30/12/09)

I went to Queensbay Mall today and noticed a huge banner hanging in the mall.
Neway Karaoke is opening soon in Queensbay Mall Penang.
It's a good news for the people staying near this area.
Somemore, at least now there is a strong competitor to Red Box Karaoke coming in Penang.
We have more choices and it won't be monopolized by Red Box.
It's a pain for us staying this area to travel all the way down to Gurney with the sickening jam.

EARTHQUAKE IN MALAYSIA (1/12/09)

This is what I heard from MYFM this morning.
Then I search from the Internet about this news.
Malaysia is no longer a safe zone.

Last year a friend of mine told me that her dad said in 1 or 2 decade the tectonic plate will slowly move toward to Malaysia.
And I think it is possible but never thought it happens so soon.

Mild Earthquake Detected In Kuala Pilah

Ah Lam 日记 is one of my favourite Cantonese rap song.
Until today I'm unable to follow the lyrics and the speed.
My tounge is unable to move as fast as George Lam.

We passed by Teluk Bayan Hawker Center this morning and saw somebody were tearing the hawker stalls.
Are they doing renovation or being demolished?
Suddenly I saw a few sign boards at the hawker center and their car parks showing that "Hak Milik Agama Islam", "Harta Pusaka of a Malay name".
What happen?
Anybody knows about it?
I have a few favourite food stalls there lerr....

Actually this day is nothing special but until in the evening I got a call from my MD telling me that I've closed an assignment.
It was a surprise to me.
I've been doing freelance recruitment agent since March 2009 and until September 2009 only I manage to close 1st assignment.
Furthermore, this assignment was a last minute job.
I got nothing for those assignments that I've spent more time.
Sometimes, it really depends on luck too.
At least a consolation for me after joining this job for 6 months.
Nothing is big but a small achievement.

This incident happened this morning around 10:50am when everyone was concerntrating on their own work.
Suddenly we heard a big 'bang' sound from one of my colleague's place.
A soft board fell down from the ceiling in our office.
Then we rushed to KC's place to have a look.
Oh my god there was a brick fell down hitting the soft board and dropped down together.
Luckily KC shifted to the desk beside me today.
If not I just can't imagine what will happen to KC.
However, we still have a 'VICTIM' in this incident.

This German Italian lady missed her flight which was the Airbus A330 Air France crash but end up died on the spot in an car accident 1 week later.
This reminds me the movie Final Destination.
You can never escape from death. It's FREAKY huh......

數日後，2人結束休假經德國慕尼黑返回歐洲，決定駕駛一輛租來的汽車返回位於意大利梅拉諾市的家鄉，不料週二（6月9日）在行駛到與意大利交界的奧地利城市庫夫施坦因時，汽車突然失控，闖入逆向車道，與一輛卡車相撞。
約翰娜當場死亡，她的丈夫身受重傷，現在還在醫院搶救。

Today is my most boring working day at Bosch and I aspect more days would be this boring as our SAP project already Go-Live.

Today when I woke up in the morning, as usual I'll open the main door and windows.
See below what I've discovered.
TILES CRACKED!!!
Oh my god, what happened??
Was it because of the weather or what???
Look at the gap between the tiles cracked and the wall.
The force was so strong and able to push at least 5 tiles out from the wall.
Now I start to imagine the strong force of the earthquake.

FAMILY TRIP TO MELAKA & GENTING 29/11/08-2/12/08

This is my first trip travelling with my in-law family.

Departed on 28/11/08 night after work, heading to my brother-in-law's place, Kuala Lumpur.

The departure was delay for at least 2 hours.

When we reached his place already 2:00am.

Day 1 & Day 2 - Melaka

This is my first time to A Famosa.

Excited and expecting a lot.

But sigh, very disappointed.

The Carnival Show at the Cow Boy Town was bringing in everything we watched from the Safari Animal Show.

They just like dumping everything in.

The only additional thing is the Red Indian Performance and most of us don't know what are they doing.

As for the parade, I think the same people came out for at least 4 times and with dull faces.

Oh my god....

Luckily we still have fireworks to watch after the Carnival Show.

A lot of you might like to know why, because they violate the dress code day rule!!!!!!

We were supposed to follow the dress code set by our lunch gang a week ago.

Dress code of the day was black top (shirt, T-shirt or blouse) with beige bottom (pants or skirt) as all of us have these 2 colours clothes then why not make a day special.

John and me sent out reminders a day before the Dress Code Day.
And see what happen, 2 persons didn't follow the rules.

Environmentalists have long criticised both the island and some of the features of the Atlantis hotel, set to open tomorrow. Analysts wonder, separately, if global financial turmoil could someday crimp Dubai 's big tourist dreams. But Dubai is not blinking: the 113-acre resort on an artificial island off the Persian Gulf coast is among the city-state's biggest bets that tourism can help sustain its economy once regional oil profits stop flowing.

'You don't build a billion-and-a-half dollar project just anywhere in the world,' said Alan Leibman, president and managing director of Kerzner International, the hotel operator that teamed with Dubai developer Nakheel on the resort. With its own oil reserves running dry, Dubai hopes to woo those eager to make money and those who know how to spend it - even as much of the global economy sours. For years, the emirate - one of seven semi-independent states that make up the United Arab Emirates - has been feverishly building skyscrapers and luxury hotels.

A key piece of the strategy has been to cultivate an image in the West as a sun-kissed tourist destination despite its soaring summer heat, conservative Muslim society and relative dearth of historic sites.
Fueling the interest are belief-defying projects such as an indoor ski slope, the as-yet-incomplete world's tallest skyscraper and a growing archipelago of man-made islands such as the Palm Jumeirah - the smallest of three such projects planned.
Much of the focus at Atlantis, modeled on a sister resort in the Bahamas , is on ocean-themed family entertainment.

Dubai's development has long been criticized by environmental activists, who say the construction of artificial islands hurts coral reefs and even shifts water currents. They point to growing water and power consumption.

Last year, environmental groups and some residents of the Solomon Islands protested the decision to sell the dolphins, plus the 30-hour plane flight needed to get them to Dubai .
Developers seem undaunted. For the moment, the resort shares the sprawling island only with rows of high-end houses and construction sites.. But other international names are set to move in.
Donald Trump plans to open a hotel straddling the center of the palm, and the storied QE2 ocean liner will become a hotel and a tourist attraction docked alongside the island tree's 'trunk'.
An 1,800-seat theatre nearby will house a permanent Cirque du Soleil show beginning in summer 2011.
'Palm Jumeirah in and of itself will become one of Dubai 's major tourist attractions,' said Joe Cita, chief executive of Nakheel's hotel division.
Boosting the number of attractions on the island will not only entice more visitors, he said, but also persuade them to spend more time and money in the city.
By 2010, Dubai aims to attract a staggering 10 million hotel visitors annually, up from about 7 million in 2007. Atlantis alone will increase the city's hotel capacity by 3 percent.

So far, demand appears strong. The Middle East had the highest hotel occupancy rates in the world during the first half of the year, with Dubai leading the region at 85.3 percent, according to professional services firm Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu.
Dubai also had the highest room rates in the region, although revenue growth is slowing, Deloitte noted.
Atlantis' backers are optimistic they can fill its 1,539 rooms despite the economic uncertainty wracking some of the world's richest economies. Their focus is on well-heeled travelers from Europe, Russia , Asia and elsewhere in the Middle East .

'People will still take family holidays,' Leibman said. ' Dubai is still good value when you're paying in pounds, (or) you're paying in euros.'
Nakheel and Kerzner are both privately held companies and do not release sales data. Leibman said demand from tour groups looks strong well into the first part of next year.
Yet Marios Maratheftis, head of regional research for the Middle East, North Africa and Pakistan at Standard Chartered Bank in Dubai , said there is 'good reason' to be concerned that global financial problems could hit Dubai 's tourism industry. Nevertheless, he said, the city's long-term outlook remains positive.

Kerzner has grown increasingly close to Dubai in recent years. In 2006, the company took itself private in a ?2 billion deal partially bankrolled by a division of Nakheel's state-owned parent, Dubai World. Nakheel retains a large stake in the company.
Meanwhile, Nakheel's hotel division has expanded rapidly. The company's holdings include New York 's Mandarin Oriental, the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach , and the W Hotel in Washington .
Its parent also owns a minority stake in MGM Mirage Inc., and is teaming with the casino operator and Kerzner to build a massive multibillion-dollar casino on the Las Vegas Strip.
But don't expect to find roulette wheels at Dubai 's Atlantis. Islamic prohibitions against gambling ensure casinos remain off-limits.

'Sacred' stone attraction

Large crowds of people – many of whom are four digit punters – have been flocking to an open area at the Bukit Minyak Industrial area near Bukit Mertajam, seeking good luck from a "sacred" granite stone.
Nearby residents claimed the stone was "worshipped" for several years before it was abandoned at the open area where it is found now.

K. Suresh, 26, a lorry driver, who operates a stall at the scene selling flowers and prayer paraphernalia said workers cleaning a monsoon drain and its surroundings discovered the stone below a tree about three weeks ago.
When they tried to lift the stone, they found snakes below it, he said, adding that the workers left the area without removing the stone.
He also said the right side of the stone has an image of Lord Ganesh (Elephant God) while its left has an image of Nagamah (a female Hindu goddess ).

The residents then cleared the surroundings, cemented the area and started to pray for luck, he added.
Several people claimed they saw numbers appearing on the stone when they washed it with water after offering fruits and eggs.

The number of people visiting the area increased as word started to spread. Some came from as far as Kuala Lumpur.
Locals residents have erected temporary stalls selling praying paraphernalia, flowers, fruits and "holy water" to bathe the stone.

Ah Poh, 60, from Chai Leng Park near Butterworth said he saw four numbers on the stone when he washed it with water he bought at the stall for RM1.
B. Kala, 38, a mother of three children said she won RM1,400 in Wednesday's four-digit draw.

Granite stone moved to temple

THE granite stone which attracted hundreds of four-digit punters at the Bukit Minyak Industrial area has been relocated to a Chinese temple in Taman Perwira near Bukit Mertajam.
Seberang Prai Municipal Council president Farizan Darus said it was relocated on his advice as the place had become too congested and this hampered traffic flow.

“It has been relocated to the premises of a Chinese temple in Taman Perwira,” said Farizan when contacted.

A temple spokesman identified only as Ah Keong, 25, said the sacred stone was brought to the Huat Choo Kong Temple recently. About a month ago, workers clearing a monsoon drain and its surroundings discovered the stone below a tree at the Bukit Minyak Industrial area and when they tried to lift the stone, they found snakes underneath. They then left the area without removing the stone.

The right side of the stone has an image of Lord Ganesh (Elephant God) while its left has an image of Nagamah (a female Hindu goddess).

It's Monday again......
Everything is back to normal except the traffic lights in front of the Giant Hypermarket still in Raya mood.
It was out of order!!!
Terribly jammed even the police was on duty.
This caused me late to work this morning.

When stucked in a jam, the only entertainment is listening to the radio.
A segment from MyFM "Wang Gong Can Lan 王宫灿烂", the story was mentioning the government servants are having "Stainless Steel Rice Bowl 不锈钢饭碗" instead of "Iron Rice Bowl 铁饭碗".
The reason is even if they did anything wrong for instance poor service or making wrong decisions, they won't face any serious punishment.
The worst case will be only tranferring that particular person to another department or section.
Unfortunately, I was unable to finish listening the program.
Anybody knows who or which government body the DJs were mentioning?

It was thought up by an ambulance man/paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents there were always mobile phones but they didn't know which numbers to call and he thought that it would be a goodidea if there was a nationally recognized name to file "next of kin"under.
Following the disaster in London . . .East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston.
The idea is that you store the word " I C E " in your mobile phoneAddress book, and against it enter the number of the person you wouldwant to be contacted "In Case of Emergency".
In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be ableto quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them.
It's so simple that everyone can do it.
For more than one contact name ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 etc.
Paramedics will turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's identity.
You can make their job much easier with a simple idea thatthey are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE.
ICE stands for In Case of Emergency.
If you add an entry in the contacts list in your cell phone under ICE,with the name and phone no. of the person that the emergency servicesshould call on your behalf, you can save them a lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly.
It only takes a few moments of yourtime to do.
Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately.

DON'T SLEEP WITH WATCH
Watches can emit a certain level of radioactivity.
Though small, but if you wear your watch to bed for a long time, it mighthave adverse effects on your health.

Scientists in America have discovered those that wear bras for more than 12hours have a higher risk of getting breast cancer.
So go to bed without it.

DON'T SLEEP WITH PHONE
Putting the phone beside your bed or anywhere near you is not encouraged.
Though some of us will use phones as alarm clocks, but please put the phoneas far as possible.
Scientists have proved that electrical items includingmobile phone and television sets emit magnetic waves when used.
These wavescan cause disruptions to our nervous system.
Therefore if you need to putyour mobile phone near you, switch it off first.

DON'T SLEEP WITH MAKE UP
People who sleep with make up might have skin problems in the long run.
Sleeping with make up will cause the skin to have difficulty in breathingand problem in perspiring.
You will also need a much longer time to go intodeep sleep.

How to Put the Right Person in the Right Job

Does your Company have a problem in recruiting the right person for the right Job?
If yes, try this simple experiment.

Put around 100 bricks in some particular order in a closed room with an open window.
Then send 2-3 candidates into the room and close it from outside.
Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours, and then analyze the situation:

>If they are counting and recounting the number of bricks - PUT THEM IN ACCOUNTS DEPT.
>If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks - PUT THEM IN ENGINEERING
>If they are arranging the bricks in some other order - PUT THEM IN PLANNING.
>If they are throwing the bricks at each other - PUT THEM IN OPERATIONS.
>If they are sleeping - PUT THEM IN SECURITY.
>If they have broken the bricks into pieces - PUT THEM IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
>If they are sitting idle - PUT THEM IN HUMAN RESOURCE DEPT.
>If they have thrown the bricks out of the window - PUT THEM IN THE MATERIALS DEPT.
>If they are clinging onto the bricks - PUT THEM IN TREASURY.
